StitchTip calculator
Crochet oval calculator
Plan a chain-based crochet oval from blocked length, width and gauge, including the center chain and every round target.
How this tool works
The difference between length and width defines the straight center. The width defines the curved ends and number of rounds; measured gauge converts both into stitch targets.
Example calculation
A 30 × 20 cm oval at 2 stitches per cm starts with about 20 chain stitches for its 10 cm straight center.
Frequently asked questions
Are turning chains included?
No. The starting chain covers the straight center only; add turning or standing chains required by your stitch.
Does it place increases on each curved end?
It gives the total target for every round. Divide the round’s increases equally between both ends and keep the straight sides unchanged.
