StitchTip calculator
Crochet border calculator
Plan a rectangular crochet border with different pickup rates for stitch and row edges, repeat fitting, corners and a complete setup-round total.
How this tool works
The calculator measures top and bottom separately from the side edges, fits each straight section to the selected pattern multiple and adds the four corners only after the sections are balanced.
Example calculation
A 120 × 160 cm blanket at 2 stitches per cm across and 1.5 pickups per cm on the sides uses 240 stitches on every straight section. With three stitches in each corner, the setup round has 972 stitches.
Frequently asked questions
Why are there two pickup rates?
Top and bottom usually follow existing stitches, while side edges cross row ends. Measuring them separately prevents stretched sides and ruffled borders.
Are corner stitches included in each side?
No. Every straight-section target excludes corners. The four corner allocations are added separately to the complete setup round.
How should I apply a +3 or -3 adjustment?
Divide the side into smaller equal intervals and spread additions or skipped pickups across the whole section, never in one concentrated spot.
