Crochet gauge calculator
Convert the stitches and rows in your sample into consistent metric and imperial gauge measurements.
How to calculate crochet gauge
The calculator divides the counted stitches by sample width and rows by sample height, then converts those rates to centimeters, 10 centimeters and inches.
Gauge example
A 10 cm sample with 20 stitches and 28 rows gives 20 stitches and 28 rows per 10 cm, or approximately 5.08 stitches and 7.11 rows per inch.
Frequently asked questions
Should I measure the whole swatch?
Measure an undistorted area away from the edges. A larger measured area usually reduces counting error.
Should the sample be blocked first?
Use the same finishing treatment the final project will receive, especially when the fiber or stitch changes after washing.
