How hat yarn is estimated
The straight section uses the full finished circumference. The narrowing crown uses half its rectangular area, and an optional folded brim adds a separate second layer before the safety margin.
Hat yarn example
For a 56 cm hat with 22 cm total height and a 7 cm crown, only the lower 15 cm uses the full circumference.
Frequently asked questions
Does the estimate include a pom-pom?
No. Add pom-poms, tassels and unusually dense colorwork separately; the entered folded brim and crown are already included.
