StitchTip calculator
Amigurumi project calculator
Estimate amigurumi yarn from the total pattern stitch count and yarn measured across a representative group of stitches.
How this tool works
The calculator finds yarn used per stitch, scales it to every piece in the pattern, adds sewing and tail yarn, applies a safety reserve and rounds the purchase to whole skeins.
Example calculation
If 100 stitches use 3 m of yarn, a 6,000-stitch project uses about 180 m before assembly and safety allowances.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find the total stitch count?
Add the stitch count for every round and include every repeated arm, leg, ear and accessory.
Can I use a flat swatch?
Use the same yarn, hook, stitch and tension. A sample worked in the round is preferable when the project is worked in the round.
