StitchTip calculator
Yarn cost calculator
Convert the yarn units a project needs into complete store packs, actual checkout spend, effective unit cost and the value left in your stash.
How this tool works
The calculator rounds packs up, applies the entered discount and checkout costs, then divides the actual total across every purchased unit so project use and leftovers reconcile to the receipt.
Example calculation
For 31 units sold in packs of 10 at $20, four packs provide 40 units. With a $5 discount and $7 extra costs, checkout is $82: $63.55 belongs to 31 project units and $18.45 remains in nine unused units.
Frequently asked questions
Why is checkout cost higher than project yarn cost?
You must buy complete packs. The unused units still have value and remain in your stash.
Where do tax and shipping go?
Enter their combined amount under extra costs. It is distributed across all purchased units together with the discount.
What if the store sells single skeins?
Set units per pack to one and enter the price of one skein.
