How the calculation works
The selected triangle, semicircle or rectangle determines the fabric area. Edging yarn and safety reserve are then added as separate planning amounts.
Worked example
A 160 × 80 cm semicircle uses π/4 of its bounding rectangle, avoiding the overestimate produced by treating it as a full rectangle.
