Frequently asked questions
Why can more than one category appear?
The published CYC WPI ranges overlap. WPI is a practical comparison, not a unique classification at every value.
How tightly should I wrap?
Keep the yarn snug and touching, without stretching, compressing, gaps or overlaps. Repeat in several places.
Can WPI replace a gauge swatch?
No. It helps identify thickness, but pattern gauge still depends on the yarn, tool, stitch and maker.
